Denville, NJ and Sparta, NJ, March 24, 2020- Rescue Products International, Inc. (RPI) and Colinear Machine and Design (Colinear) announce today that they have purchased the equipment, tooling, designs, and machinery to continue to produce Omega Pacific's leading Steel and select Aluminum Carabiner lines. On January 20, 2020, Omega Pacific, one of the U.S.'s largest manufacturers of carabiners, announced that it would be winding down operations after 37 years in business. In a joint venture, RPI and Colinear have been working closely with Omega Pacific for the last two months to ensure a seamless transition which should minimize any significant delays to customers. In addition to being honored to continue the legacy of Omega Pacific, RPI and Colinear are proud to keep jobs and production in the USA.
"We, at Omega Pacific, are excited to have Rescue Products International and Colinear Machine and Design continue producing the high-quality rescue hardware customers have relied upon for their safety needs for nearly four decades. Chris Botti, RPI's President and active firefighter, has assembled a team that embodies the high level of commitment to the end user. Together, they are committed to developing unique products by drawing upon their collective knowledge, and experience in the Fire & Rescue community. We encourage loyal Omega Pacific customers to support RPI and Colinear in their efforts," Rob Nadeau, CEO Omega Pacific.
For the last thirteen years, RPI has used an Omega Pacific carabiner in their firefighter escape system. "I have personally used Omega's carabiners daily in both fire rescue and technical rescue operations. I trust my life and the lives of my fellow firefighters on these carabiners without question!" says Chris Botti, "The design and quality, plus the fact that the carabiners are made in the USA with US raw materials and globally sourced parts is key to the trust I have in these carabiners. This is one of the main reasons we decided to move forward with continuing the production of the Omega carabiners while extending the legacy of Omega," says Botti.
RPI and Colinear are partnering together in this new venture. The company will be located in Northern New Jersey under the name Skyworx. Skyworx will focus on maintaining and redeveloping the Omega product lines. Additionally, we will endeavor to create new advanced technology, high strength, lightweight carabiners as well as other unique products for the Rescue and Fire Service, Professional Work at Height, and Tactical communities. Our current expectation is to be producing high quality carabiners toward the end of the third quarter of 2020. These products will meet all of the required standards including ANSI and NFPA. "One hundred percent quality, in both design and manufacturing, is our number one priority in what we make for our customers." says Michelle SanGiacomo, President of Colinear. "We look forward to providing the highest quality equipment, to our nation's construction and industrial workers, fire service members, law enforcement community, technical rescue community, and US soldiers who continue to protect us daily," says Botti.
All current technical specifications and NSN numbers will continue to remain the same throughout this transition.
